Good evening in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ! There exist this greatness with the being of the people of God. That is, having more joy in being yourself, than having joy being in the Lord! Genesis 4:3; And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. v4; And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: v5; But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. *When you take joy in your being instead of in being in the Lord. Romans 1:25; Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. The joy in being yourself, but having no joy of being in the Lord! Genesis 4:6; And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? v7; If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. v8; And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. *When you’re in your feelings about yourself, Matthew 13:22; He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. Finally, when you take joy of being in yourself, than your being in the Lord Genesis 4:9; And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper? *There is not a desire to keep up your being in the Lord. Luke 16:13; No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon. *Church, having joy in being yourself, and have no joy of being in the Lord, this should not be so! Does that being in the Lord, John 6:61; When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you? Having joy in yourself, you really need to ask yourself.
