“CHASTENING!” You would think if we were humble enough. That this would be something that we would be running to, instead of running from. 1 Timothy 4:8; For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come. 2 Timothy 3:5; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Psalm 23:4; Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me; that’s “CHASTENING!” Hebrews 12:6; For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. Job 13:15; Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Job is saying; 1 Corinthians 9:27; But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway. But I humble myself so I can be right, and look the way he wants me to. Hebrews 12:11; Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby; again, that’s “CHASTENING!” Genesis 12:1; Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee; yes you can look at this as being a “CHASTENING!” Psalm 127:1; Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain. “CHASTENING!” 1 Peter 4:1; Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin: v2; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God; now that’s “CHASTENING!” Teaching!
