“IT WAS IN MY SPIRIT, WHICH IS IT?” I hear a lot of people who go to church that have this saying; a claiming of being with the Lord at their convenience. 1 Timothy 4:1; Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; v2; Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron. “IT WAS IN MY SPIRIT, WHICH IS IT?” Matthew 16:15; He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? v16; And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. v17; And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona: For flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. (When they say that, it was in my spirit, and they attend church, a regular presence of the Lord Jesus Christ is with you. All the way up to this point Peter had followed Jesus fully; John 16:13; Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. This is the result of an it was in my spirit. Matthew 16:18; And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. “IT WAS IN MY SPIRIT, WHICH IS IT? Now here is an instance of it was in my spirit, a being in the Lord at your convenience. Matthew 16:21; From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. (Now, Jesus just spoke of and gave an example of it was in my spirit; 2 Corinthians 5:8; We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.) Matthew 16:22; Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee. (See here, It was in my spirit, which is it? 2 Corinthians 5:16; Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we no him no more.) Matthew 16:23; But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men. 1 Corinthians 2:14 read. 1 John 4:1; Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. “IT WAS IN MY SPIRIT, WHICH IS IT?” 2 Corinthians 5:6; Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord. “IT WAS IN MY SPIRIT, WHICH IS IT?” Many church folks have that saying, but don’t have that kind of time. So, Which Is It? 2 Timothy 2:15; Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Peter 1:20; Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. “IT WAS IN MY SPIRIT, WHICH IS IT?
